Just a couple of days to go for the New Year and many Chennaites would be eagerly waiting for this!!

Revelry on beaches, roads and in other places in Chennai city would not be witnessed this time as the police department would be making security arrangements. This was according to the police commissioner, Mr. Mahesh Agarwal.

He spoke about how arrangements have been made to ensure compliance with the government order or GO banning New Year celebrations on roads, beaches, hotels, clubs resorts etc in Chennai on 31st December night and on the morning of 1st January.

Restriction of entry to beaches:

The police commissioner later revealed that the entry to the beaches in Chennai would be restricted. There would be additional deployment to check the vehicles on the Kamarajar Salai and on the ECR.

A scheme has been drafted by the Chennai police department to prevent people celebrating on the roads. There would be 300 vehicle check points. Celebrating the New Year inside the houses with families would be good because bike racing on the roads on the eve would be dangerous.

Celebrating the New Year with families on their own beach houses would be allowed but public gatherings would not be allowed.
