Veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey passed away in London on Monday. He was 86. His niece Shaheen Aggarwal shared the news on Facebook. Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffrey has joined his brothers and sister and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally she wrote.
Mr. Jaffrey was the first India to tour the world with Shakespearean plays. He has received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contribution to dramatics. He has acted in movies such as A Passage to India, After Midnight and My Beautiful Launderette, for which he received a BAFTA nomination. Closer to home, he is known for his roles in Hindi films like Ram Lakhan, Shantranj Ke Khiladi and Masoom.
