Posted on: 22/Nov/2017 4:47:33 PM
Aadhar is likely to get integrated with a number of civic services including that of birth and death certificates, property tax assessment, building approval and trade license, as the Chennai Corporation is devising plans for the same.

There have been complaints to the Chennai Corporation Commissioner from residents often when the zonal level offers request them to provide Aadhar details for civic services. In fact, there have been complaints from the councilors that the zonal level offers are claimed to have been harassing residents with their demand for Aadhar. Vikram Kapur, a former Commissioner in fact warned saying that action will be taken when Aadhar is demanded from residents for providing civic services.

Things now are eventually changing. After a meeting with the State Resident Data hub that took place on 23rd October, a senior official has instructed the zonal level officers that it is likely to enforce database integration of Aadhar, aiming at authenticating individuals who avail civil services.

A Corporation official further added that the UID data integration will be carried out in order to validate proper information of birth and death, all taxation and different other kinds of public services.

With integration of Aadhar details along with birth and death, taxation, etc., we will be able to authenticate citizen demographic information. The Greater Chennai Corporation data can also be integrated with that of the other departments, say officials.

Initially, the 1934 data with the Chennai Corporation will be covered. For over 69,05,698 residents, the birth registration details are available. And details of death registration are available for 29,15,701 residents. For property tax assessment, data of 12,05,666 residents is available. For profession assessment data, 1,22,766 residents is available. For company tax assessment, data of 16,036 residents is available. For trade license, data of 53,006 residents is available. For town planning, data of 2,177 residents is available. For town planning, data of 1,713 residents is available. All these shall get integrated with Aadhar.

It is necessary to enroll a sub-authentication for linking Aadhar details. The authentication agency as of now is the Tamil Nadu e Governance Agency. The civic body should sign a joint undertaking in order to enroll this sub-authentication. Soon, the sub-authentication user agency under Regulation 15 shall be submitted. A letter will then be sent to the TNeGA to authorize the Chennai Corporation as sub-authentication user agency.
