Hyderabad and Chennai continue to swelter

Posted on: 24/May/2017 9:50:09 AM
The cities of Hyderabad and Chennai have remained dry for quite some time now. Both these cities have not seen enough rains during the Pre-Monsoon season. Barring one day when Hyderabad witnessed 61 mm of rain on May 10, rain gods have continued to turn their back against the Biryani City.

As far as the city of Chennai is concerned, apart from about a trace or two of rain, good showers have remained far away from the capital city of Tamil Nadu. There has been a presence of several weather features over the region, however, they haven’t been in the proximity of Chennai and weather conditions have remained dry.

As far as the temperatures are concerned, Hyderabad has been hot with the maximums remaining above the 40-degree mark. In fact, the City of Nizams at present is also witnessing above normal maximums. At present, the maximum is settling at 42.4 degrees which happens to be three notches above the normal levels.

While Chennai is witnessing temperatures close to the normal levels, being a coastal station, high humidity levels have been keeping the feel like temperature well above the usual levels.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet, both the cities will continue to be dry and hot at least during the next two to three days. Some rainfall activity may occur over Hyderabad around May 26 and in Chennai around May 28. However, until then both the state capitals will continue to swelter.
