Comprehensive arrangements are made for class 12 board examinations that kick-start today. Vasundara Devi, the Director of Government Examinations has issued a press release in which it is mentioned that 8,98,763 students from 6,737 higher secondary schools are taking up the exam this year. This comprises of 4,80,837 girl students and 4,17,994 boys and one transgender. Along with them, 98 prisoners are also attending the exam. In addition to school students, there are 34,868 individual candidates who take up the test.
A total of 5,69,304 students are from Tamil medium schools. In Pondicherry, there are 15,660 students from 143 schools taking up the exam at 33 different exam centres.
In Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, the exams are set to take place at 2,434 centres. 46,685 teachers are deployed for invigilation. And there are 4000 flying squads kept ready to inspect the exam halls.
Use of mobile phones is banned within the exam hall and it is applicable to both examiners and teachers. Malpractices during examination will be considered as severe criminal act and stringent action will be taken against them. If the school management encourages or serve assisting these students, its accreditation will be cancelled.
