Heavy rain showers likely in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry today

Sources from the meteorological department say that Chennai and Pondicherry are likely to receive heavy downpour with thunderstorms today, Tuesday. Due to heat convection and southwest monsoon season, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are receiving rain showers.
On Sunday midnight and evening hours of Monday, there were severe rain showers. According to recordings as of Monday morning, maximum rainfall was recorded in Trichy, Kovilangulam in Virudhunagar where 70mm rainfall is recorded. Ketti in Nilgiris and Thali in Krishnagiri district were recorded with 50mm rainfall.
There were heavy showers received in Vellore, Kanchipuram, Ramanathapuram, and Chennai districts as well. In a hint about the same, the meteorological department officials have stated that Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are likely to receive rain showers with thunderstorms in a few places today. Chennai and its neighboring areas will receive heavy showers with thunderstorm around the evening time.
Mighty winds
In Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, there will be mighty wind blog at 45 to 55km speed. Hence fishermen are alerted not to go for fishing.
