Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalaithaa has announced plans for roads & bridges in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs. 1855.36 Crores.
The Chief Minister made this announcement in the Legislative Assembly under Act 110.
In the 1st phase, pavements with width of 7 metres to 10 metres with drainage faculties and rest-room facilities will be built for the devotees who undertake girivalam (taking a circular route around the temple) at Thiruvannamalai at a cost of Rs. 65 Crores.
Under the project of constructing over-bridges/under-bridges in place of railway level crossings, 12 such constructions will be taken up at Vellore, Salem, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, and Thirunelveli Districts at a cost of Rs. 655.36 Crores.
The 4-way road between Oragadam & Vandalur will be converted into a 6-way road at a cost of Rs. 200 Crores.
A new over-bridge will be constructed at the junction between Vandalaur, Maambakkam, and Kenambakkam Roads to reduce the traffic congestion at a cost of Rs. 60 Crores.
