Jaitley informed that the taxpayers are facilitated with waiving off the fee amount in case of delay in filing GSTR-3B. The taxpayer ledger will be credited with the late fee payment, he added.

This initiative is taken so as to facilitate traders and GST filers. During the initial phase of rolling out GST, there were complaints regarding technical glitch upon which the government has already started taking actions to fix them.

The chairman of GST Network, Ajay Bhushan, said on October 20 that by the noon time on the same day, over 33 lakh GST returns for September month were filed. Further, the GSTN portal keeps getting loaded with 75,000 sales data every hour.

According to the Goods and Services Tax regime, October 20 midnight was the deadline to file GSTR-3B returns for September.

Giving an interview, Pandey further said the GSTN system is very stable and that the total data handled is just 30 percent of the total capacity. In the past 2 days, over 20 lakh returns are uploaded.

Till noon, 33 lakh returns are filed. The rate at which returns are being filed is approximately 75,000 every hour. The GSTN system is very stable. A lot of people are further likely to file return on time, he further explains.
