Before the end of 2024, the HR & CE or Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments is contemplating the completion of 2000 temples across TN. Information collected is that the dept has received donations worth Rs 979 crores. It is worth noting that till now the dept has conducted consecration for 1800 plus temples.
On Saturday, 29th June, the final day of the TN Assembly session took place and the minister for HR & CE informed the state Assembly. Taking part in the discussion for the demand for grant for 2024 to 25, the minister mentioned that the dept has earned the trusts of philanthropists etc as the dept received donations worth more than Rs 979 cr. Oru Kala puja scheme would be extended to 1000 more temples at Rs 25cr.
To improve the integrated basic amenities at 6 temples, the dept of HR & CE would be developing a master plan at Rs 177.10 cr. Currently, there is an annadhanam scheme in just 11 temples across TN and soon this would be extended to Madurai based Sri Kallalagar temple and Kovai based Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy temple.
Beginning this year, students studying in the schools and colleges that are run by Palani Murugan temple would be given. An amount of Rs 150 cr would be spent for renovation of 115 temples present in urban places. Using Rs 9cr, 3 golden chariots and using Rs 11.50cr 3 silver chariots would be made. Information gathered is that the HR& CE dept has increased the fund allocation for administering and for maintenance expenses.
