Prospects of rain today due to cyclonic format

There are strong prospects of rain in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to the development of a cyclonic format on the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Arabian Sea.
The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, explained regarding this:
The depression zone which formed over the Lakhdiv Islands and the Southeast Arabian Sea has weakened. Further, a cyclonic format has developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Southeast Arabian Sea near the coastal Karnataka state.
Further, the western and eastern winds linked to this development are likely to meet over the parts of the South India regions. Because of this, there has been a widespread rain in North Tamil Nadu and a few places in South Tamil Nadu in the last 24 hours.
There are prospects of mild rains in a few places both in North and South Tamil Nadu in the next 24 hours. There may be intermittent mild rains in the Chennai Metro City and its suburban areas.
