Haj flight from Chennai to take off on October 15

According to Tamil Nadu Haj Committee officials the first Haj flight from Chennai will take off on October 15, carrying more than 4,000 pilgrims from the state. Chennai is the only departure point in the state.
3,816 people visited Haj last year. This year, the highest numbers of applicants were from Chennai and Vellore districts.
Indian consul general at the Indian consulate in Jeddah, B S Mubarak said nearly 50,000 pilgrims from other parts of the country have arrived.
