Women safety/security: New feature introduced in call-taxis!

Several measures are being taken to improve the safety level of women travelling in public conveyance in metro cities like Chennai.
In this aspect, a company offering call-taxi services has introduced a special safety feature for women travelling in their taxis.
There is a button fixed on the car seat. If the woman passenger finds that there is some danger from the driver or any other agency, she can press this button and ask for help from others.
Pressing the button enables sms message to be sent to the call-taxi agency as well as the close relatives. The Deputy General Manager of the call-taxi company, Meru Cabs, Mr. Venkatesh Seshaiyan, informed that this feature has been introduced to ensure safety of the women & elderly passengers.
