Winter superfoods that could lower the blood sugar levels

We are now in the month of January and the weather is cold. There are many who have issues like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart issues etc and for these people the cold weather would be harmful. In this cold season the blood sugar could increase in the people having diabetes because the people exercise less but consume lots of food. It is said that the diabetes regimen would need a change during the cold season. There are certain foods available during the winter season or cold season and these foods have got plenty of vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, fibres etc in them. It is important that we must consume these winter season foods for our good health and for improving the blood sugar management in us.

These winter super foods must be included in the diet.

Intake of Brussels sprouts:

It has got high fibre content in it and it could keep the blood sugar levels stable. Hence intake of Brussels sprouts is a must for those with type 2 diabetes in them. This vegetable has got low glycemic index and it is available throughout the winter season.

Intake of winter squash:

The presence of fibres, potassium etc in this winter squash or butternut squash plays superb roles. Intake of this vegetable could lower our BP and high BP is avoided in us. The antioxidants in winter squash helps in lowering blood sugar levels.

Intake of sweet potatoes:

The sweet potatoes are unique vegetables because they are anti-diabetic food having starch in them. This is different from other vegetables having starch in them. The fibres and beta carotene present in sweet potatoes does remarkably in helping to lose weight in those with diabetes issues. Managing of blood sugar levels is achieved.

Intake of oranges:

Oranges along with others like lemon, lime, amanatsu, cam sanh etc comes under citrus fruits category is well known. The intake of oranges is very important as it could help in managing the blood sugar levels efficiently. The oranges have got low glycemic index and these fruits could be added to our diet in small servings. It is known that orange is a hybrid between pomelo and mandarin.

Intake of guava:

Present in many tropical and subtropical regions, guava is another super food that is available during winter season. The high amounts of fibres present in guava make it superb for the regulation and improvement of blood sugar levels.
