This is the latest form in natural medicine. It is based on vitalism accordingly to which there is special energy called the vital energy or vital force. This is believed to direct the bodily processes like its growth, metabolism, reproduction and adaptation.

In naturopathy, a holistic approach is practiced. This will be very less invasive to improve symptoms and thus reduce the need for surgery or unnecessary drugs. The Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges state naturopathy as principles and not methods or modalities. Furthermore, it stresses on the wisdom of our own body to heal.

What does a naturopathy do? He is a primary healthcare professional who diagnoses and treats the cause of illness with the help of effective and safe natural healthcare procedures.

Drug-free and non-surgical
In naturopath, the medicines are drug-free and treatments are non-surgical. Here, the patients are treated completely instead of assessing a single area. Naturopathy involves the use of natural methods of treatment like homeopathic medicine, vitamin supplements, mineral supplements, dietary modifications, therapeutic massage, positive lifestyle changes, etc.

Naturopathic diagnosis involves pathology testing and complete case study. Nutritional tests, salivary hormone tests, examination of iris of eye called iridology, hair analysis, etc. are also performed in order to identify the prime cause of the condition. On identifying the complaint, patients will be helped using naturopathic assessment and care.

How naturopathy works?
According to the theory of naturopathy, human body has the potential to heal by itself when given the right environment and needed ingredients that can possibly create healthy cells.

The vitalist philosophy states that human beings are no machines to function according to cause and effect relations. They are rather beings that has single vital force guiding it.

Treating the cause of illness and treating the body on the whole is what naturopathic medicine is all about. There may be singular cause of the disease, illness and pain, but often times, there may be multiple causes as well. The reasons may vary between chemical, structural or emotional or any others.

Discovering the primary cause of illness and finding remedy by taking out the cause is called naturopathy. Bettering your diet and lifestyle, bringing down acidity, taking of toxic content out of your body, improving musculo-skeletal disturbances, improving nutritional content in your body with herbal supplements, introducing exercise practices, and more are involved in this method.

So, the natural tendency of the body to get healed by itself will be freed up by improving the cells one by one.

The primary benefits of naturopathy are
  • Identifying root cause of illness without just figuring out the symptoms
  • A completely drug-free method
  • Helps maintain bodily wellness upon rectifying initial condition
