Prices of coronary stent slashed

It is a practice to place coronary stent in the arteries to save the lives of heart patients. The price of the coronary stent is very expensive. The central government has slashed the price of coronary stent by 85 percent.
The maximum retail price of bare metal stents (BMS) and drug eluting stents (DES) will be Rs 7,623 and Rs 31,080, respectively. The prices are inclusive of VAT and other local taxes. The new price will take effect with immediate effect. This price change was announced by Chemical and Fertilizer Minister Ananth Kumar.
So far the prices of BMS stents was Rs 45,000 and the prices of DES stents were Rs 1.21 lakh. The central government had ordered the manufacturing companies to reduce the prices of stents. The price reduction of the stents was good news to heart patients.
