The high power generation in Tamil Nadu in the last few months would make the state a power surplus state for the next 5 months. The power reserve in TN has increased because of more power generation in the state through windmills is a known fact.
The Central electricity authority is hoping that the state of TN would have more power availability than the power needed for the 5 months from July to November. It is worthy to mention that the organisation believes that there would be additional power plants in megawatts and million units during the period. In the month of July, the electricity or power demand requirements in TN is16100 MW. Likewise, the power reserve for this July month is expected to be 17183MW.
The sensational piece of information is that on 9th July 2022 TNEB had generated 120.25 million units of electricity with the help of windmills. Out of total electricity consumed in TN, 35percent of the electricity consumed has been generated using windmills. In the 7 consecutive days, 100 million units of electricity have been generated in TN.
On 29th of April 2022, the state consumed 388.078 million units of power supply and that was the highest ever power consumed in a day. This has led to a shortage of power supply for the next 2 months. Information is that till the middle of September the power supply generation using wind power would be high.
In the month of August 2022 the state of TN would require 16100mega watt electricity and power reserve would exceed the demand by 17040 MW. At 15800 MW, the power demand for September would be marginally low and power availability is expected to be 16617 MW.
Across the state of TN in the month of October, the demand for power supply would decrease to the extent of 1500 megawatts and power reserve is expected to increase to 17375 MW.
It is learnt that the demand for power would, be14400 MW in November and the power supply is expected to be 16296 MW. It is learnt that Tangedco has the capacity to generate 4320 MW of electricity. In addition to this, electricity generated by the central power plants plus private purchases and usual power generation etc would lead to 16652 MW of electricity. In TN, through renewable power generation projects, 17225 MW of electricity gets generated. Out of that, 8615 MW of electricity is being generated using windmills.
