In Chennai, delays of MTC buses due to the metro rail work, passengers affected badly!!

With delays in the MTC bus services in Chennai due to the CMRL`s metro phase-2 work, the passengers have been affected badly now. Mostly in the places like Arcot Road and Poonamallee the frequency of the MTC buses have come down now.
During the peak hours of time in these above said roads in Chennai, heavy traffic congestion has led to the vehicles moving at very slow speeds. Many persons who depend on MTC buses etc to reach their destinations have been affected very badly. The traffic congestion and diversion has resulted in a longer and tedious journey for the MTC bus passengers in Chennai.
On its phase-2 project, CMRL has commenced work in Chennai and by 2025 Poonamallee- Kodambakkam Power House elevated would be opened for the public.
It was highlighted by a resident from Valasaravakkam that ever since the metro phase-2 works began a few months back there has been a delay in the MTC buses. He shed light on how the 40 minute journey from his residence to his office at Chetpet is now taking more time due to bus delays etc. Vehicles have been forced to use a narrow stretch because of the fact that CMRL has placed barricades on the Mount- Poonamallee Road.
A Nandambakkam based resident expressed his views and spoke about how his journey to his office is now taking more time due to bus delays and traffic congestions etc.
The ongoing metro train phase-2 work has been causing MTC bus delays and traffic snarls on the arterial roads like Arcot Road and Poonamallee Road etc. This was confirmed by a senior official belonging to MTC. He revealed that to avoid pile ups MTC has been coordinating with the traffic police and CMRL. He concluded that all the MTC buses are being operated on schedule but some buses get stuck in the heavy traffic.
