From Today - Working hours of Koyambedu market changed

From Wednesday onwards, the working hours of the highly popular Koyambedu market in Chennai would be extended till noon. The traders were of the opinion that this extended time of working would help the retailers to make their purchases without any problem. It is known that this Koyambedu market functions from 9pm to 9am in the morning.
For the purpose of maintenance works, this market would be closed twice in a month.
It was later mentioned by Mr. D. Rajasekaran, president, Federation of all Associations of Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex that the market would be shut down on every second and fourth Sunday from this month. He spoke about the agreement that has been made between them and Koyambedu Market Management Committee for carrying out the maintenance works.
For the sake of providing more facilities and for better maintenance, discussions were held with the authorities concerned. This market was closed when it became a hotspot for Covid-19 infection.
