Water seepage into Chennai Airport

Posted on: 07/Jun/2013 2:46:06 PM
For the second time in a row rains have proven to be too much for the new domestic terminal in Chennai Airport. A part of the false ceiling fell to the floor after high winds were experienced on May 13th. The heavy rains on Thursday resulted in water seepage in several parts of the terminal, showing that repair work, if any, has proven to be useless.

The water seepage affected departures. A Sri Lankan Airlines flight was diverted to Bangalore, and arrivals from Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata were delayed. Water entered into the terminal through the canopy in the security area and the glass wall paneling also leaked water into the boarding gates area.
