We want coconut park, say farmers

The Federation of Coconut Growers cum Agricultural Welfare Societies has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for announcing the packages that would fund the farm sector. The announcement also included building commercial complexes especially for the sale of tender coconuts. The proposed complex is expected to come up in Coimbatore.
President of the Federation Dr. N.R. Thajudeen has asked for a ‘coconut park’ to be established in Vellore. He has proposed that the park come up on the Chennai – Hosur highway, part of the industrial corridor which will come up there. ‘The facility of commercial complex must be extended to all coconut-producing districts, including Vellore. The complex could obtain copra in addition to the tender coconuts directly from the farmers to help them get a better price’, he added.
