Ration card holders to get Tur dal and Palmolein oil for 1 more year

After immense response from the ration card holders, the below decision is taken now!

As per the Special Public Distribution System, in ration shops, Tur dal or Canadian yellow lentil, and palmolein oil were supplied to the beneficiaries. This saw tremendous response by the public. Upon observing the same, the State government has concluded that the commodity distribution shall continue in the same scheme for one more year till February 2020.

A recent report from the Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has intimated that all the ration cardholders have shown great interest in getting dal and palmolein oil at slashed prices from ration shops. Following this, the Food Department has come up with the aforesaid decision of supply extension.

As the scheme was implemented, there was better control over the market price of commodities, says the Commissioner who sought to extend the scheme for another one year.

The rates

The rates at which the dal and lentils and oils at ration shops are as follows

Tur dal – Rs 30 per kilogram

Palmolein oil – Rs 25 per litre

For each and every ration card holder, the eligible limit of Tur dal or Canadian yellow lentil is 1 kg and that of palmolein oil is 1 litre.

Supply

Food department sources state that a total of 20,000 tonnes of  tur dal, 1.5 crore number of 1 litre pouches of palmolein oil are being given to the public at slashed rates.

There was already an extension of the Special Public Distribution System which was from March 2018 till February 2019 where 1 type of dal which is either tur dal or Canadian yellow lentil along with Palmolein oil was provided.
