Prime Minister lays the foundation for Madurai AIIMS

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Madurai today (Sunday, 27th January), laid the foundation stone for the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) at a cost of Rs. 1264 Crores in Madurai.
The AIIMS will be located at Thoppur near Madurai. The event of laying the foundation stone for the construction was performed in Mandela Nagar, located at 3 km distance from Madurai Airport.
The Prime Minister arrived in Madurai from Delhi by a special flight at 11.00 AM. He proceeded from the airport by car to Mandela Nagar, Madurai and laid the foundation stone at 12.00 Noon.
In addition, the prime minister also inaugurated through video-conferencing the super-speciality hospitals constructed at Madurai Government Medical College, Thanjavur Government Medical College, and Tirunelveli Government Medical College at a cost of Rs. 150 Crores each
Tamil Nadu governor Panwarilal Purohit, the Chief Minister E. Palanisamy, Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha M. Thambidurai, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, the central minister Pon. Radhakrishnan and some state ministers participated.
