Liquor stores to remain shut on Republic Day

An announcement from the office of Chennai District Collector orders all the bars to remain shut on Republic Day that falls on 26th January 2019. That said, all of the TASMAC IMFL Retail Vending Shops along with its attached bars, FL2 Bars functional in clubs, FL3 bars functional in Hotels and the FL3 (A) bars that run under the licensed Tamil Nadu Tourism Hotel Bar, Chennai District are to remain shut.
This order follows the Rule 12 from the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Vending Rule 2003 and Rule II (a) pertaining to Tamil Nadu Liquor Rules, 1981.
Hence, on Republic Day, there will not be the sale of liquor. Necessary legal actions shall be taken when violations are observed.
