Posted on: 06/Jun/2018 9:43:04 AM
Exciting days ahead for Western Ghats from Thursday - Coimbatore (Valparai), Nilgiris, Theni (Periyar region), Kanyakumari (Pechiparai regions) and Nellai (Manjolai-Papansam regions) will get heavy rains starting from this Thursday. Hope huge inflow comes into the Dams. Remember most of our important dams are in the Ghats.

Valparai and Nilgiris ghat areas in particular will see heavy to very heavy rains over 10 days starting from this Thursday. One or two days will see very very heavy rains. These two districts are heavy weights and watchout for Chinnakallar, Devala, Upper Bhavani, Sholayar, Parambikulam etc.

Other areas close to western ghats like Erode Sathyamangalam belt, Dindigul will get rains too.

All those who have planned visit to hill station in Kodagu (Cauvery catchment of KRS), Wayanad (Cauvery catchment of Kabini), Munnar, Valparai, Goa, Mahabaleshwar, Karnataka coast / ghat belt can postpone their visit, if u have planned for a vacation.

Mumbai Rains - Too early to say that if it is going to be super heavy, lets wait for two more days to get clarity.

So much news has been spread on Mumbai rains that it is going to be historic. There is going to be heavy rains for sure in Mumbai but its too early to say that it is going to be historic. So more on Mumbai rains after there is some clarity.

Bangalore - No Floods as circulated in media

Bangalore there will be some rains, but nothing like floods as circulated in the media.

Chennai and TN Thunderstorms

There is going to be reduction of rains from Thursday. The more the rains on windward side (ghat & west coast), the less the rains in the leeward side. So we will see pop-ups forming till Thursday and then rains will reduce a lot. Tomorrow will be a hot day too and after which temp will be around normal (+ or -1C)
