Google Neighbourly app for local information

Internal communication in a local residency is very inevitable in terms of important information, corporation or municipal announcements on a particular area, facility management and other local activities involving the dwellers. Keeping all these usages in mind Google developed a new application called Neighbourly to help people gather and access local information from their respective neighbors. The app is now available in the beta version on the google play store operating on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and higher. Currently the application runs for all smart phones in Mumbai and will be launched in all important cities very soon.
Purpose of the app
The neighbors of our locality can update us with accurate details about the surrounding and important happenings. So the users can ask questions and get relevant answers from their neighbors. The application can enhance the local networking of people with easy access through technology connecting the neighborhood.
Three primary ways to use the app are as follows:
- Neighbourly App allows you to ask the neighborhood a question and the suitable experts in the particular locality will provide you relevant answers and clarifications. With the help of Google’s voice recognition you can speak directly for queries or answering others as well. It works in English and eight other Indian regional languages.
- Local expertise: Right information is wealth, the old proverb slightly re-edited for current generation. Though there are numerous information available outside in all forms the right kind of knowledge is a rare form, especially after the digital era. So helping others with your expertise and experience will be a great help for people. Just swipe left or right through the questions to give relevant answers. Neighbourly App will recognize the most helpful neighbors and encourages them with badges and exclusive community events.
- Safe Neighborhood: Personal details such as phone number, name and other information are kept confidential and the app will never disclose any of those details without your permission. Browsing, asking questions and acquiring answers are the major components of the Neighbourly App. People joining the app will give the “Neighbourly Promise” to be more responsible and help in the cause of improvement in neighborhood communications.
