R.G. Chandramogan - the man behind those chilled packets

R.G. Chandramogan is one of the popular entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu. He serves as the Managing Director and Chairman of Chennai’s largest private sector dairy company – Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. In the segments of Ice cream, milk and curd, his brands including Arun, Arokya and Hatsun play a vital part in India.
Mr Chandramogan hails from Thiruthangal, Sivagasi and is first-generation entrepreneurs from the district. Adding accolades is his position among the 113 Indian Billionaires and holds wealth of 1.45 billion dollars.
Born in Thiruthangal, Virudhunagar District, Chandramogan quit his schooling in order to extend his financial support to his family. With a very little capital of Rs 13,000, at his 21 years of age, he started RG Chandramogan and Co in 1970. Laster on, in 1986, he set up Hatsun Agro Products Ltd. With all his perseverance and determination, he evolved his company into one that produces topnotch dairy products. In India, he is known to produce high-quality dairy products that has reached every Indian household.
In India, products including Arun Ice Cream, Arokya Milk, Hatsun Curd, Butter, ghee, dairy whitener, etc. have become very popular among the population. The company has set up units in Salem, Madurai, Thalaivasal, Vellisandhai, Tirunelveli, Kancheepuram, Chittoor, Belgaum, Hyderabad, and Honnali. At present, there is about 3 million litres of milk being procured from more than 4 lakh farmers on a daily basis. There is also about 500 tonnes of cattle feed being produced every day as a support to dairy farmers so that they can feed their cattle with nutritive meals.
There are more than 10,000 collection centres for Hatsun. There are 94 veterinarians and 22 agronomists as a part of the company.
