Anna Universitys Action on Womens Protection

Anna University has decided to make it mandatory for all its 550 constituent and affiliated colleges to set up women empowerment committees to deal with sexual harassment complaints and to sensitize women on measures to prevent and deal with harassment. UGC had written to all vice-chancellors and directors of educational institutions in the country, asking them to "provide women increased security and protection on university campuses.
And as advanced.The university also plans to ask colleges to ensure that their women students are taught Self-Defense techniques. Like self Protection against the criminals. Some institutions have tried teaching students karate and other martial arts. We want to extend this to all colleges.
Anna university also plans to create awareness among staffs and students of affiliated and constituent colleges on gender issues and to encourage them to file complaints when facing harassment by a colleague or faculty member.
