Women’s Day Special - A Toll-gate to be operated exclusively by women today (8th Mar)

For the 1st ever time, a toll-gate located in Pattarai Perumbudhur in Tamil Nadu will be entirely operated exclusively by women today (Thursday, 8th March).
In the state of Tamil Nadu, there are 46 toll-gates set up in National Highways (5000 km) to collect the vehicle toll charges. Generally, the task of collecting the toll charges from the vehicles is performed only by men. Most of these employees are from North India.
Women are appointed in the administrative tasks in some toll gates.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being organized to celebrate the International Women’s Day today (Thursday, 8th March) on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Section of the National Highway Commission. As a part of this Women’s Day Celebrations, it has been decided that the toll-gate located in Pattarai Perumbudhur on the Chennai-Tirupathi National Highway will exclusively be operated by women throughout the day today (8th March). It is notable that this is being done for the 1st ever time n Tamil Nadu.
Arrangements have been made to distribute sweets to the women travelers on this route from this toll-gate.
Awareness Programmers are to be conducted regarding the Hygienic maintenance of the National Highways and the rules and regulations to be observed while driving vehicles under the Central Government Health Plan.
