Soon the city of Chennai would become super-speciality centre with 1000 new beds

Good news for the people living in the city of Chennai. It is known that geriatric care and treating patients suffering from dreadful cancer are very important.

The news is the city of Chennai would get around 1000 new beds for the geriatric care as well as for those with cancer.

It is well known that there are many non-communicable diseases affecting many people these days and people find it very difficult. Now for the sake of these people hospitals are opening large super-speciality centres.

Caring of elders is very important and for this purpose a 200 bed facility would be started by the government of the state.

There are also good news coming from few private hospitals like the popular Apollo hospitals and Fortis hospitals and these hospitals would have 150 bed cancer hospital and exclusive transplant centre respectively for the benefit of the people.

As per World Health Organization or WHO there must be three beds for 1000 patients but in the city of Chennai there are only 2.4 beds per 1000.

Health minister Mr C. Vijaya Baskar expressed his thoughts in this aspect and said 14.3 percent in the state of TN belongs to the age group of 60 to 69 years and this is high when compared to 10.1 percent in all India. He spoke about care for the elder persons is very important.

Mr N.J. Gowri Shankar who is the head of HSB Consultancy Services spoke his heart out and said Chennai city has got superb doctors and infrastructure. He also cited the reason why hospitals are expanding into super-speciality centres because of the technological advancement.

He further threw light on the fact that in the initial stage the cost would be high as the hospitals bring in new technology.

According to Dr Sanjay Pandey of Fortis Hospitals, multi-speciality hospital was planned initially but the plan was changed to a 250 bed transplant unit.
