Dedicated to Lord Ranganatha or Vishnu there is a temple in Srirangam in Trichy in the state of Tamil Nadu that is constructed in the Tamil style of architecture. This Trichy is about 300kms form Chennai is known. This temple is visited by many devotees from all over. There are as many as 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu and this Lord Ranganatha Swamy temple leads those. Utsava moorthy or presiding deity here is referred as Namperumal. The presence of two rivers named Cauvery and Kollidam on either side of the temple presents amazing sight for the viewers

This temple is also called as Thiruvaranga Thirupati or Bhoologa Vaikundam. This amazing temple is situated over an area of 156 acres and is largest ‘Functioning Temple’ in the world and is rated as high as other religious complexes like Tibet based Potala Palace, Cambodia based Angor Wat etc.

In this temple the Lord Vishnu or Ranganathar is seen in resting posture with his head in west and his legs in east directions. Devotees visiting this temple for the first time would be surprised to see as many as 21 sculpted gopurams plus 50 subshrines, 9 pools, dome over the sanctum sanctorum of the deity etc.

It is superb to note that in this Lord Ranganatha Swamy temple there are consecrated mini mandapams having the feet of lord in collinear formation through seven enclosures.

The administration of this temple was streamlined by none other than the great philosopher Ramanujar is well known.

In the months of Chithirai, Thai and Panguni this temple would be seen full of devotees as during those times brahmotsavams would be celebrated here. The annual festival in Marghazi is very important in this temple and it is conducted for 21 days here.

This temple is opened for the devotees form morning 3 am till 10 pm in the evening.
