On 1st of April district boundaries of Chennai would be drawn again

It is known that the state government has added six taluks to the districts of Chennai from the districts of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram. It is now clear that these taluks are still in the administrative control of their respective districts only. The news that has emerged now is on 1st of April the boundaries of Chennai districts would be redrawn. It is said that the preference of revenue department personnel on choosing their districts must be finalized as they involve more time period.
According to an official, order from the government on re-organising Chennai districts would begin from 1st of April 2018. It is confirmed that borders of Chennai would be redrawn and that would see Chennai expanding its size to 426 sqkm from the present 176 sqkm.
It is known that two weeks ago chief minister of Tamil Nadu E. Palaniswami was involved in the expansion programme. Six new taluks like Alandur and Sholinganallur from Kanchipuram district and Ambattur, Madhavaram, Maduravoyal and Thiruvottriyur from Thiruvallur districts were added.
Now the total number of revenue villages is 122 and this also includes the newly added 67 revenue villages that are present in the districts of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram. When the census was taken in the year 2011 it was said that the total population of Chennai district was 4.6 million and now the total population present after expansion would be about 7.1 million.
Mr Anbuselvan who is the district collector of Chennai spoke about how the revenue officials could choose their districts of their choice. The collector also spoke about how the option would be given to the employees so that they could work either in Chennai district or continue to be part of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts.
It is now said that the coordination between the police, metro water, corporation and district collector would be easier and that would be superb.
