Light showers in Chennai, Karaikal

Posted on: 29/Nov/2017 11:35:03 AM
During the past 24 hours, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells were recorded over Tamil Nadu. These rains can be attributed to the low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka Coast. The system is likely to persist and while moving in westerly direction is likely to weaken gradually.

In wake of this, south coastal parts of Tamil Nadu will receive moderate rain and thundershowers, while north coastal and interior parts of the state will witness scattered light rains during the next 24 hours.

Places such as Ramanathanpuram, Pamban and Tondi will witness moderate intensity showers, whereas light rain is anticipated in Palayamkottai, Karaikal and Nagapattinam. The Tamil Nadu capital, Chennai would settle with light rain activity for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will take a back seat over the area, paving way for dry weather conditions.

The moderate northeasterly winds will continue to prevail over the region. Rain activity is expected to reduce over the northern parts, however southern parts of Tamil Nadu will continue to settle with light to moderate rains for the next 48 hours.

Mornings will be comfortable and breezy over most parts of the state, while days will be humid and warm, with partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions.
