700 Special buses for Karthigai Deepam festival

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has planned to operate 700 special buses from Chennai to Thiruvannamalai for the occasion of the festival of Karthigai Deepam.
The festival of Karthigai Deepam is traditionally celebrated in a grand style for 10 days every year in the famous Thiruvannamalai temple of Lord Annamalaiyar.
This year’s Deepam festival starts with the divine flag-hoisting ceremony in the Thiruvannamalai temple on 23rd November.
The grand chariot procession will be conducted on 29th November.
Bharani Deepam will be performed and celebrated early morning on 2nd December and Maha Deepam at 6.00 PM.
Lakhs of ardent devotees are expected to visit Thiruvannamalai on this grand occasion from different parts of the state and other states and countries as well.
The State Transport Corporations have planned to operate more than 2000 special buses on this occasion from different places to Thiruvannamalai. Out of this, 700 special buses are to be operated from Chennai.
