Jio raises tariff from Rs. 491 to Rs. 499 without a notice

Posted on: 26/Oct/2017 11:15:38 AM
In just one week of launch of Rs. 491 prepaid recharge pack, Jio has raised the package amount to Rs. 499. The pack was launched as one of the Diwali tariff revisions. This offers 91GB data and other free offers by the company. This is the only Jio offer with long validity period and offering 1GB daily data which is 91 days. Until Monday, the offer had been priced Rs. 491. However, from yesterday, the 25th October 2017, the tariff is raised to Rs 499. Though the increase is marginal of meagre Rs. 8, it is unclear about what had evoked to make the rise. There was no official announcement for the same, to note.

Rs. 499 gets revised for the second time
The Rs. 499 plan is thus revised for the second time. Originally, it was announced as a 2GB per day offer and belonged to the list of all plans announced at the time of launch of Jio services. Later, with the launch of Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, the plan was phased out, and the plan tariff was raised to Rs. 509 instead of original Rs. 499.

Currently, the list of plans for prepaid users mentioned in the Jio official site does not contain neither Rs. 499 plan nor Rs. 491 plan. To avail the offer, users need to click on to MyJio mobile app, or visit the Recharge section on Jio website to opt for the Rs. 499 plan.

This plan falls amidst Rs. 459 and Rs. 509 plans, and the plan is not as enticing as the remaining two. With Rs. 459 Jio plan, users get 84 GB with 84 days validity. This is hardly different by 7 days validity and Rs 40 less. Coming on to Rs. 509 recharge, users get 2GB daily data with 49 days validity. All these plans come with the other freebies from Jio such as free voice calls, SMS, and Jio app access.

On October 19, the plan was launched as among the new prepaid plans. And the rates of postpaid plan were curtailed in terms of their validity. As a part of the revision, the post-FUP speed is also dropped down from the original 128kbps to 64kbps.
