Plans to print Rs. 200 currency notes in large quantity

The Reserve Bank of India has decided to print the new Rs. 200 currency notes in large quantities in order to make it for public circulation.

Immediately after the central government announcement on 8th November 2016 declaring the existing currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 as invalid, new currency notes of denominations Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 were printed and circulated.

The printing press of the RBI is located in Devas in Madhya Pradesh, The target was fixed to print currency notes of different denominations for a total value of Rs. 400 Crores.

In this situation, a target has been set to print to print 40 Crores of the new Rs. 200 currency notes. The Reserve Bank of India has triggered all necessary activities to be initiated for this purpose.

As the RBI has sufficient stock of the currency notes of Rs. 500, the printing of that has been stopped and the printing of Rs. 200 and Rs. 20 currency notes has started.
