Keep your Android phone Active, or lose all your data

Posted on: 15/Sep/2017 12:25:24 PM
Most Android users believe that Google will keep a backup of everything to which we link it on our smartphone. One of the users also believed this way until he found all the data got erased off from Google.

Here is his story
He seem to have switched to using an iPhone for about 2 months. Coincidentally, this is the stipulated time set for Google to keep your backup preserved on your Android phone after which it will consider it inactive and kick out your data from its server. It resulted the user with no other choice than to start using his smartphone as a fresh, completely new one!

The user also did not receive any notification about the background activity. Speechless about all the data vanishing away, the user approached a Google representative if there was any alternative to preserve data backup in the Drive where he discovered nothing of such kind is present.

Official Google Policy
When a user has the data unused for about 2 weeks, it will be tagged for expiration as it will read it to be ‘inactive’. When data are transferred from an old Android phone to a new one, the latter will be considered active. If any new addition of data like contact are added to a particular account, it shall automatically get synchronized with the other devices as well.

Constant checking is on
Thus, Google servers always have an eye on each and every account and the device status. There is no option to backup Android data on other platforms. So, you are left with just one option – keeping the device active! Have your Android smartphone connected to internet so that the Google serve realizes that you have the device active.
