DakshinChitra to celebrate Dussehra between 13th and 17th September

As a part of Dussehra celebrations, DakshinChitra will be organizing folk performance and craft exhibition in its Muttukadu premises between 13th and 17th September.
 
The aim of this festival is to collaborate all the diverse traditions of dance forms of Karnataka, its crafts and films, reads a release in this regard.
 
Kangilu Kunitha is a popular dance form in Udipi. This shall be performed by artists from Karnataka. This involves 5 to 12 members. It shall be performed by Mundal and Gowda community members.
 
These dancers will be wearing a costume called Kanguluda Sirikulu which is made of tender frond-leaves. It will be wrapped around the waist area on the shoulder and head. Face painting is also done using striking colors.
 
Drums, cymbals and flute musicals are the accompaniments for the dance form. On one corner of the yard, these accompaniments are seen. Two of these will produce Kangulu Sandhi or Paddana. The rest will be playing their respective instruments, sing and dance, forming circular pattern with back and front movements.
 
A wide display of Channapatna toys and banana fiber products will also take place as a part of the festival.
