Alert from the Government. Is your PAN still Active?

Giving a push to weed out all fake and duplicate PAN cards, the Income Tax Department has deactivated more than 11 lakh PAN cards. This move intends at identifying all fake PAN cards and people who have PAN cards that are issued using false documents. With this move to block unauthentic PAN cards, the government can easily figure out theft and transactions based on benami properties.
So, it is important for all the users to check whether their PAN card is active, because the last date to link Aadhar card and PAN card is 31st August.
How to check whether PAN card is still active? Here are the steps:
- Open the e-filing website
- There is an option called Know Your PAN. Click open this link present along the left side of the page under Services.
- Once clicked, it will get redirected to a page where you need to fill the necessary details.
- Once filled, you will get an OTP to the registered mobile number for verification
- Click on Validate after this.
- You will get an Active notification if your PAN is currently valid.
- When you hold multiple PAN numbers with the same user details, you will have a message stating that there are various records for the single query. You will then have to provide added information and fill up with more details. This will then take you to a new page which will contain your PAN card validity details.
