BSNL has made an announcement where all the broadband users are advised to change the default system password following malware attack observed on select set of broadband system earlier this week.

Over 2000 broadband modems have got hit due to this malware attack. In all these cases, the subscribers had not have changed the password given in default.

The malware attack is being addressed. Customers are advised to change their passwords immediately. Once done, they need not worry about such attacks, says BSNL Chairman Anupam Shrivastava. In no way, the core network of BSNL, billing or other systems are attacked by the malware.

With this malware attack, user passwords of those who are still using admin as password were changed. This had hit modems and people struggled without being able to login.

Earlier this week, the attack was observed. The BSNL call centres kept reaching out to the users and alert them in this regard and instructed the precautionary measures.
