Engineering students ought to clear arrears within 3 years

In a push to give increased focus towards current engineering students, the old students are to be given a maximum of 3 years to clear arrears.
Students who fall within 7 years period will be allowed to write arrear exams starting from the upcoming semester, said Sunil Pailwal, Higher Education Secretary. According to the decision, students who joined after 2011 can attend exams during upcoming November.
In the previous April-May exams, students of 2001 batch were allowed to take up the arrear exams. This doesn’t serve the purpose. Works inundate the controller of examinations as they will be setting 6,000 question papers to these students.
By sticking on to this time limit, from the whopping 6000 question papers, it will come down to 1800.
As mandated by UGC, the department is likely to implement the rule.
