1st July is not the deadline to link Aadhar and PAN. Dont panic

People are rushing to get their Aadhar card and Permanent Account Number linked on the income tax site before the deadline which is 1st July. Due to heavy traffic, the website is even crashing. Most people presume that their PAN card will get invalid if the linking is undone before 1st July. Though it is true, it is not of the same as people assume.

Starting from 1st July, this linking gets mandatory, however it is not compulsory to link it before 1st July. If there are difficulties in linking the two before 1st July, it is not that your pan card will become invalid automatically. Just note that the linking gets mandatory after 1st July. The government will probably announce a due date after which PAN cards that are not linked to Aadhar will turn invalid. The date is till now not declared.

According to Section 139A of Income-tax Act, each individual has got their own PAN number allotted as of 1st of July 2017 and who has all essential documents to apply for Aadhar will have to intimate this Aadhar number in the prescribed format. This should be done within the deadline announced by the Central Government in the Official Gazette.
