Demolition work of fire-razed Chennai Silks building stopped

The demolition work of the fire-ravaged Chennai Silks building at Usman road T.Nagar has been suddenly halted.

This is because there are 2 parties who claimed that the debris will be their possession.

The demolition work of the multi-storeyed building started on 2nd June. It was continuing for the 4th day yesterday (5th June).

As heavy dust started spreading out during the demolition, the building was externally covered and the demolition continued.

In this situation, the demolition work came to a complete halt suddenly.

The T.Nagar police officials explained that while demolishing the building, the demolishing company claimed ownership of the waste material after demolition including lots of items like the iron waste.

However, the owner of the Chennai Silks building also claimed that the debris and demolished items belong to him.

Because of this difference in opinion between the 2 parties above, the demolition work had to be stopped temporarily.

However, there are good prospects of the demolition work being resumed today once a smooth understanding is reached between the 2 disputing parties.
