Public Examinations for +1 from the current academic year

The state minister for school education, K. A. Sengottaiyan, informed that the public examinations will be conducted for +1 classes also from the current academic year 2017-18.

After releasing the state government orders on the above, the minister had a session with the press reporters.

The Tamil Nadu state government has been implementing several useful measures for the benefit of the school students. The state syllabus is being revised to be on par with the CBSE syllabus.

It has been decided to conduct public examinations for +1 classes just like 10th and +2 classes. A government order on this has been released.

The marks system for +2 is revised from the present total of 200 marks for each subject to 100 marks. So, the total also will change to 600 from 1200 that was in vogue till now. The duration of the public examination is reduced from the present 3 hours to 2.5 hours. A minimum of 35 percent has been fixed as the pass mark for each subject.

The practical examinations will be conducted for the +1 classes. The public examination will be conducted for the +2 classes. Both marks will be integrated and a certificate will be issued accordingly.

The students who fail in +1 examinations, while continuing their studies in +2 classes, can write the supplementary examinations for +1 scheduled in June-July.

The syllabus is being revised as per the latest international socio-economic changes. Handbooks will be issued to the students detailing the changes in the syllabus. The teachers will be given special training on the new syllabus.

Special classes, for 1-hour, will be conducted after the school closing hours.

The subjects of technology and computer will also be taught along with Science for all the classes from 6th Standard to 10th Standard.

Instruction handbooks will be issued to the teachers whereas practical handbooks will be issued to the students. The facility to learn through the internet online and also through mobile app will be made.

The syllabus for the classes 1st, 6th, 9th, and 11th will be changed in the year 2018.

The syllabus for the classes 2nd, 7th, 10th, and 12th will be changed in the year 2019.

The syllabus for the classes 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th will be changed in the year 2020.

The students will be trained to take up challenging competitive examinations at the national level like NEET.
