No escape from hot and humid weather in Chennai

Posted on: 22/May/2017 5:49:57 PM
The weather of Chennai has remained hot and humid for quite some time now. This elongated dry spell can be attributed to absence of any weather system over or near the region. Due to this, dry and warm westerly winds have been blowing across the area.

In wake of this, temperatures have remained on the higher end, making the Chennaites to crave for rains. The maximum temperature is presently settling at 38°C, near the normal levels. In fact, the minimum temperatures have also been settling at 30°C, which is 2 to 3 degrees above the normal. Being a coastal city, Chennai is prone to record such high temperatures ranging between 37°C to 40°C at this time of the year.

As per Skymet Weather, similar weather conditions are likely to continue over the region, bringing in no respite from the hot weather. However, good news is not very far away for the residents of Chennai as rain and thundershowers are expected by last week of May. Till then, the weather conditions will remain dry over the area.

However, the interior parts of Tamil Nadu would continue to see some isolated activity. All thanks to a trough that is extending over the region. Meanwhile, no activity is foreseen over the coastal region and it will remain dry. Thus, humidity and discomfort will continue to bother the people of the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
