Soon, petrol bunks to sell bulbs and fans

Very soon, you can buy energy efficient LED bulbs, tube lights, ceiling fans, etc at petrol pumps. These will be sold at absolutely low rates. The price of LED bulb is Rs 65, tube light is Rs 230 and ceiling fans is Rs 1,150
The state-run oil marketing companies will be procuring these appliances from state-run Energy Efficiency Services Ltd.
The OMCs and EESL were about to sign a Memorandum of Understanding today to sell these appliances. This however got postponed as Anil Madhav Dave, the Environment Minister passed away.
Very soon, the new date of signing MoU will be announced and petrol pumps will start selling these products.
There are more than 53,000 petrol pumps functional under OMCs. However, there is no final decision taken about availability of these appliances at all the petrol pumps of these companies.
Under the government’s efficient lighting program, the EESL will be distributing energy efficient LED bulbs and lights. These retail channels and power distribution companies will be involved in these sales.
The procurement price of 9-Watt LED bulbs is to be reduced to Rs 38 per unit as they will procure in bulk.
Similarly, for LED tube lights and ceiling fans, the rate will be of the range RS 600-700, and Rs 1,700 to 1,800 in retail sales.
