NEET: Central government refuses to give exemption to Tamil Nadu

Posted on: 16/May/2017 4:30:47 PM
The central minister Prakash Javadekar has informed that there is no possibility of giving exemption to Tamil Nadu alone on the issue of NEET.

The supreme court had allowed permission to conduct NEET throughout India for admission to the medical graduate and postgraduate courses offered by the colleges and universities throughout India.

Subsequently, the state government of Tamil Nadu passed a petition in the Legislative Assembly to seek exemption from NEET and presented it to the President for approval. So far, the president has not approved. The Secretary of the health department also informed that he has been waiting for this.

In this situation, the central minister Prakash Javadekar has informed that it is not possible to give an exemption to the state of Tamil Nadu for NEET. NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) is conducted as per the order from the Supreme Court. So, nothing can be done about the exemption. The minister told that the state government of Tamil Nadu has been informed about the stand of the central government on this issue.
