Agni Naksahtram to start on 4th May

Summer in Tamil Nadu this year has been quite intensely hot so far.
Due to the failure of the Northeast monsoon rainy season and the present scorching heat, there is an extremely acute shortage of drinking water which has put people to extreme hardships.
The people were somewhat hopeful of summer rains bringing some relief and water but this also has not happened so far.
Now, the hottest part of the summer, Agni Nakshatram, is set to start from Thursday, 4th May. This peak summer will end on 28th May.
People have to encounter the worst of summer and the hot breeze blowing across.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre officials explained that hot winds will blow across during the Agni Nakshatram period.
Presently, the breeze blows both from the land and coastal areas. There are high prospects of a hot breeze blowing across in 2 days.
In the next 24 hours, it may rain in a few places in the interior districts of Tamil Nadu. However, dry weather will prevail in the coastal districts.
The rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours up to 8.30 AM yesterday (Monday, 1st May):
Sengottai – Thirunelveli district – 2 cm
Hosur, Krishnagiri district, Kodaikanal, Dindigul district, Kethi, Nilgiris district, and Valparai, Coimbatore district – 1 cm each.
