BS-4 technology compulsory in 2-wheelers from 1st April

The central government has made BS-4 technology compulsory in all 2-wheelers in order to reduce the pollution from the emission. This has led to the prospects of the prices of 2-wheelers going up by 20 percent.
In India, the pollution level of the emission from the vehicles is measured as BS (Bharath Stage). The measure is devised in such a way that when BS is more, the pollution of the emission is less. It is a well-known fact that the pollution from the emission from the vehicles has caused great harm to the environment. In view of this, the Supreme Court has ordered that henceforth, all the 2-wheelers must be fitted with engines incorporating the BS-4 Technology.
Subsequently, the central government has been taking initiatives to convert the present BS-3 engines in all the vehicles to be changed to BS-4 type engines.
Presently, all the buses and cars are operating on engines with BS-4 technology. However, the 2-wheelers are still operating on engines with BS-3 technology.
The central government has now ordered that all the 2-wheelers bought from 1st April must be fitted with engines of BS-4 technology. This has led to the prospects of the 2-wheeler prices going up by 20 percent.
When enquiring on this development with the dealers of the 2-wheelers sales, they explained that the central government has ordered that the new 2-wheelers must be fitted with engines of BS-4 technology. This will naturally lead to an increase in production costs. However, depending on the current demand in the market for 2-wheelers and the brands, it is expected that the prices will be up by Rs. 1000 to Rs. 4000. Still, they expect the manufacturers may not raise the prices by a high margin as they would prefer to retain the prevailing customer base.
