As of now, there are 6,73,347 families subscribed to Give It Up scheme. The centre had announced the scheme for all LPG consumers that requested consumers to give up subsidy on refills. As of July 2015, the total number of LPG consumers who gave up the subsidy was 1,01,354.

There are close to 10,200 consumers of 3 main oil companies giving up it up every month. Industry sources state that their sustained campaign has moved the people to opt for the Give It Up scheme. They can do this either online or through IVRS mode. There are 1.01 crore active LPG consumers in Tamil Nadu.

There are consumers who also withdraw their Give It Up Scheme. A few of them who withdraw from the scheme claim that they have opted for it by mistake, as a wrong entry to the IVRS mode. There are consumers who have also not linked the Aadhar numbers with 17-digit LPG ID and hence they are not eligible for subsidy, explained an official.

The price of non-subsidized refill increased up to Rs 86. The price last month was Rs 661 in Chennai, to note. At present, the price of subsidized refill is Rs 422.43 and non-subsidized cylinders are sold for Rs 746.50.
