Age limit raised for joining law courses

The Bar Council of India has raised the upper age limit for admission to the Law Courses.
The President of the Bar Council, Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra, explained that the upper age limit for joining the 5-year graduation course is being raised from 20 years to 22 years.
The upper age limit for the 3-year course is being raised from 30 years to 45 years.
This decision was taken during Law Education Council Meeting of the Bar Council conducted on Wednesday, 1st March.
However, this age concession will apply only to the students who join the course in the Academic Year 2017-18.
A consultation meeting with all the related agencies will be conducted in detail and a final decision will be taken in 3 months.
Mr. Mishra told that the Bar Council accepted the recommendations made in the report submitted by the one-man committee of the Justice A. L. Narasimha Rao.
As per the Law Education Act 28th section, the Bar Council recently reduced the upper age limit to join the 5-year graduation Course to 20 years and the 3-year graduation course to 30 years.
Protesting against this, the students who are set to write the Entrance Test to admission in Law Courses submitted a petition in the Supreme Court.
This petition was taken up for enquiry on Tuesday, 28th February. The judges raised the question why there was an urgency in passing the reduction in upper age limit for admission to Law Courses.
The judges advised the Bar Council to take a good final decision so that the students need not have to approach the courts.
